Kemmy Burgess was the winner of the 2006 AOY Award after earning honorable mention All-America honors and leading the Seawolf men to an NCAA Tournament berth. A 6-1 senior guard, he finished second in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference overall scoring race with 21.1 points per game and led the league in conference-only games by more than a point at 23.1 ppg. The San Diego native pushed the Seawolves to a 19-12 overall record, playing in perhaps the strongest conference in NCAA Division II. He was named an honorable mention All-American by D-II Bulletin, in addition to first-team All-West Region and All-GNAC accolades. Burgess was the only player in Div. II to rank among the nation's top 25 in scoring (22nd), 3-point pct. (8th, .450), 3-pointers made (20th, 3.1 per game) and free throw pct. (20th, .868). In the second half of league play, he averaged 27.4 ppg as the Seawolves went 6-3 and posted victories over No. 5 Seattle Pacific and No. 9 Western Washington. In two seasons, Burgess crushed UAA’s career 3-point pct. record (.474) and was among the all-time Seawolf top 10 in scoring avg., points, treys made and free throw pct.
