Frode Lillefjell, from Bind, Norway, was a dual-sport athlete who achieved success in both sports. As a Nordic skier, Lillefjell capped a brilliant season by winning the NCAA title in the classical race and placing third in the freestyle event, earning All-America honors for the third time in his career. He lost just three races all season and never placed lower than third. His national championship performance led the UAA ski team to a fifth-place NCAA finish, the best in school history. As the top UAA cross country runner, he earned all-conference honors and led the Seawolves to a second-place Pac West finish, which was then the best in school history.
