Hansi Gnad, from Darmstadt, Germany, wound up a brilliant four-year basketball career at UAA by being named to the Division II All-America First Team in 1987. Also selected to the Great Northwest All-Conference and NABC All-District teams, Gnad is still the Seawolves’ No. 1 all-time rebounder. He averaged 17.5 points and 12.2 rebounds per game as a senior while helping UAA to a 23-7 record and a runner-up finish at the NCAA Division II West Regional. Gnad was a third-round draft choice of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers before going on to a storied professional and international career, including several years as captain of the German National Team. He was selected to the inaugural class of the Seawolf Hall of Fame in 2001.
