David Registe - 2008-09 - Men's Track & Field

David Registe made history by becoming the first Seawolf track & field athlete to claim a national title by winning the men’s long jump competition at the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Palmer product recorded a winning leap of 24-8 1/2, edging runner-up Joe Kindred of St. Augustine's by two and three-quarter inches. The two-time GNAC champion in the long jump, Registe earned All-America honors for his performance, becoming the first UAA men’s athlete to earn the distinction in track & field. In June of 2008, he was named the GNAC’s Male Athlete of the Year (encompassing all sports), boosted by conference runner-up finishes in the 100 and 200 meters, plus a title in the 4x100 relay.
