An Eagle River product steeped in Alaska hockey tradition, Nick Walters will serve as an assistant coach for the Seawolves after spending the previous four years as the director of operations.Â
Prior to officially joining the Seawolves staff in 2016, Walters volunteered for three seasons and helped the team with statistics and video operations. Duties as Director of Hockey Operations includes managing internal and external video operations, organizing all travel and accommodations, assistance with visiting opponents, pregame and post-game coaching preparations and coordination of community service efforts.
Walters also acts as Camp Director for the off-season UAA Hockey Academy and Seawolf Sports Camps. Both programs have enjoyed substantial growth under Walters’ direction.Â
A 2006 graduate of Chugiak High, Walters helped coach the Mustangs to the 2016 Cook Inlet Conference league championship and runner-up finish for the First National Cup, Alaska high school state championship. He worked on Chugiak’s staff for three seasons and coached in the Mustang Hockey Association.
Walters graduated from Youngstown State (Ohio) University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, where he also played on their club hockey team. He lives in Anchorage with his wife Hilary and dog Finnie.
