Chas Davis came to the University of Alaska Anchorage as the associate head coach for cross country and the assistant track and field coach in the fall of 2021. 

Davis mentored Cole Nash to a breakout season in 2021-22. Nash earned All-American honors in cross country and the 10,000. He would sweep the 5,000 and 10,000 titles at the GNAC Championships after placing second in cross country and second in the 3,000 and 5,000 indoors. 

Davis brings over 16 years of Division I collegiate experience, including four years as a head coach. Davis comes to the Final Frontier from fellow West Region foe Holy Names where he served as head coach for the past year.

He served as an assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and director of home meets at Pac 12-member California from 2013 to 2020. The Golden Bears men’s cross country teams qualified for back-to-back trips to the NCAA Championships in 2015 & 2016, a first in program history. The women’s team qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2017, their first trip to the championships in six years. Davis consistently signed highly nationally-ranked distance classes and aided in the development of All-Americans Kelsey Santisteban, Thomas Joyce, Bethan Knights, Chris Walden, Brie Oakley and Garrett Corcoran.

Davis started his coaching career at his alma mater Creighton as an assistant coach in 2005. He then served as a volunteer assistant at Oregon State for one season (2008-09) before returning to Creighton as the head coach in 2009.

Davis, who ran cross country and served as team captain at Creighton, graduating with a degree in journalism and mass communication.
