Biography

2000-01: Delivered the best shot-blocking season in school history and finished high on the career lists in many categories...with five blocks against Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 24, she moved past Tammy Middaugh (58 in 1981-82) for the school record. She finished with 62 despite not being credited with a block in the final two games at MSU-Billings and Western New Mexico...Bottoms’ season average of 2.3 also set the record for blocks per game...in UAA’s Feb. 22 win over Seattle University, she tied Sonya Welch’s school record for blocks in a game with seven. She also put up her second straight double-double in that game with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds...Bottoms recorded five or more blocks on four occasions this year...she finished as the school’s No. 2 career shot-blocker with 155...for the 2000-01 campaign, she was UAA’s second-leading scorer (10.4 ppg) and third-leading rebounder (6.0 rpg) as well as the third-leading shot-blocker in the conference...she finished her UAA career top 15 in points, rebounds, blocks, field goals made, field goals attempted and games played.

1999-00: Posted a team-high 1.12 blocked shots per game, good for sixth-best in the Pac West...was the team's fifth-leading scorer despite coming of the bench for all but one game...suffered a neck injury in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout that bothered her for the first half of the season...finished the year strong with a career-high 22 points (8-15 FG, 6-8 FT) in a clutch road win at Seattle Pacific...posted a double-double (17 points-11 rebounds) in a home win over Seattle University.

1998-99: The team's No. 3 scorer (8.3 ppg), she led the team and Pac West in blocks (1.4 bpg)...a starter in six games, scored a season-high 20 points against Cameron (Nov. 14)...named to '98 AT&T Alascom Jamboree all-tourney team...selected team's Most Improved Player.

1997-98: Showed promise in redshirt freshman season by averaging 6.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 27 games...led the Pac West with 35 blocked shots and a 1.3 average...set a UAA single-game record for field goal percentage when she made 10 of 11 shots (.909) against College of Notre Dame (Nov. 17).

1996-97: Scored five points and didn't miss a field goal or free throw as injuries (shin splints) limited her to playing two games...granted a medical redshirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 10.0 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for Eielson High as a senior, earning all-region honors...helped team to a 16-9 record and a berth in the 1996 Class 3A regional tournament, losing to state runner-up Valdez...also averaged 2.3 steals and 2.6 blocks...named to the all-tournament team at the Peninsula Challenge...honor roll student...moved to Alaska in August 1995 from Bitburg, Germany, where she averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds as a junior for 21-1 Bitburg American High School...holds single-season rebounding and blocked shot records at Eielson and Bitburg...earned 14 varsity letters in volleyball (4), basketball (4), softball (3) and track (3) between Bitburg and Eielson...served two-year captaincy each on the basketball, volleyball and track squads...track MVP at Eielson and placed second at the state championships during her senior year.

PERSONAL: Born Dana Lynn Bottoms on June 15, 1978 in Jacksonville, N.C....daughter of Michael and Joyce Andersen...major is psychology.
