Anchorage native Mia ’Uhila returns home in 2025-26 to begin her coaching career as an assistant on Matt Thune’s Alaska Anchorage staff.

The former Bartlett High School star completed a four-year NCAA Div. I career at the University of Hawaii in 2024-25, playing in 31 games and leading a 22-win Rainbow Wahine squad with 85 percent free throw shooting.

’Uhila played her first three collegiate seasons at Portland State, starting 31 of 84 games and earning Academic All-Big Sky honors every year. She averaged 8.5 points per game as a junior, ranking second on the Vikings with 86 assists and grabbing a team-best 39 steals.

As a prep star, she was the 2021 Alaska Gatorade and MaxPreps player of the year, leading Bartlett to Cook Inlet Conference and 4A State titles. She was a three-time all-state and four-time All-CIC selection.

’Uhila earned her B.A. in economics from the University of Hawaii in spring 2025.
