ANCHORAGE (Jan. 22) - Central Washington's Corby Schuh nailed a three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining to lift the Wildcats to a 76-75 victory over the UAA men's basketball team Saturday night at the Sports Center. Chris Hamey, who led the Seawolves (9-7, 2-4 Pac West) with 19 points, missed a running 10-foot jumper with five second left, and no one could corral the rebound as time expired.
Carson Payne led all scorers with 21 points for the 25th-ranked Wildcats (12-5, 5-2 PWC), who rallied from a 75-69 deficit in the last 2:30 to pull out the victory. Earlier, the Seawolves had overcome a 65-52 deficit with a 23-4 run.
Greg Freeman posted his second consecutive double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Serge Using notched his third double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 boards. Scott Larrabee (13) and Taylor Wagner (11) also tallied double figures for UAA.
The Seawolves travel out-of-state for the final time this season next week, playing at Simon Fraser on Thursday (7 p.m. AST) and Seattle University on Saturday (6 p.m. AST).
