FAIRBANKS (Feb. 12) - Sanjay Noriega scored 19 of his 30 points in the first half as Alaska Fairbanks built a 23-point halftime lead and hung on for a 95-81 over the UAA men's basketball team at the Patty Center Saturday afternoon. The loss marked the first time since the 1976-77 season that the Nanooks (11-12, 5-3 Pac West) have swept the Seawolves (13-9, 2-6 PWC) in the season series.
Junior forward Greg Freeman scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the way for UAA. Chris Hamey scored 18 points to move past Vern Robateau into seventh place on the all-time UAA scoring list with 1,107 points. Hamey is now only two points behind Jeff Martin for sixth on the list.
UAA center Serge Using scored 16 on 7-for-8 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds.
UAA closes out the season with a four-game homestand, beginning Thursday, Feb. 17 against Montana State-Billings.
