SEATTLE (Feb. 26) - Tiffany Massey and Tirzah Church scored 14 points each as the UAA women's basketball team put up its highest point total of the season in an 86-55 victory over Seattle University at the Connolly Center Saturday night. Catherine Hale chipped in with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting for UAA (19-7), while Mandy Matzke led the way for SU (7-18) with a game-high 25 points.
The win completed UAA's road trip at 3-1 and gave the Seawolves their eighth road victory of the season - the second-most in school history.
Senior forward Stephanie Smith nearly notched a double-double, putting up 10 points and 9 rebounds, and junior center Dana Bottoms had 11 points and 7 rebounds before fouling out. Massey was once again a statistical marvel, shooting 7-for-11, dishing out six assists and grabbing two steals.
The Seawolves shot 38-for-61 from the field for a season-high 62.3 percent. That figure included 5-for-10 from three-point range. UAA outrebounded SU 42-29.
UAA, ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division II West Region, completes its regular season Saturday, March 4, when it takes on Humboldt State at the Sports Center. That game tips off at 7:05 p.m.
