MADISON, Wisc. (March 16) - University of Alaska Anchorage freshman goaltender Cory McEachran was selected to the six-player All-Rookie Team, and seven Seawolves were named to the All-Academic Team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's 1999-2000 postseason awards, announced Thursday.

McEachran (6-2, 200, Thunder Bay, Ontario) posted a 2.72 goals-against average and a .893 saves percentage in helping UAA to a seventh-place finish in the 10-team league. McEachran posted an individual record of 6-8-2 as UAA finished the year with a 15-18-3 mark. Behind his goaltending, the Seawolves' penalty-kill ranked second in the WCHA, stopping 86.7 percent of its opponents' power-play chances.

This marked the second straight year a Seawolf goalie was named to the All-Rookie Team, following Gregg Naumenko's selection in 1998-99.

Of the Seawolves' seven academic honorees, Klage Kaebel, Chris Sikich and Reggie Simon are repeat selections from 1998-99. It was Kaebel's third straight year on the academic squad.
