ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Ed Kirk had a game-high 29 points, but the University of Alaska Anchorage suffered its first Pacific West Conference loss, falling 95-82 to Central Washington here Saturday night.
Kirk made 13 of 17 free throws for UAA (7-4, 1-1 PWC), while Central Washington (8-3, 3-0) was powered by Justin Thompson's 27-point, eight-rebound showing.
Greg Freeman had a career- and team season-high 15 rebounds, while freshman Nathon Glover established a career-best 15 points. However, UAA committed 20 turnovers two nights after making only five in a win over Saint Martin's. The turnover woes resulted in UAA taking 13 fewer shots than the Wildcats.
The Seawolves return home next week to host conference games with Hawaii-Hilo (Fri.-Sat., Jan. 12-13) and Chaminade (Mon., Jan. 15).
