SILVER CITY, N.M. - Playing in her final game as a Seawolf, senior Tiffany Massey scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the University of Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team to a 92-68 victory over Western New Mexico here Saturday night.
Senior center Dana Bottoms scored 17 and senior forward Jennifer Gardeline had a career-high 13 in her final outing for UAA (13-14, 11-11 Pac West). Tara Craig led WNMU (0-27, 0-22) with a game-high 25 points and 12 rebounds.
Massey, a guard/forward from Payson, Utah, shot 9-for-13 from the field to come one point shy of matching her career-high, while also contributing two assists and five steals.
Another senior, forward Kellie Larrabee, finished her career with five rebounds and seven assists.
The teams played to a 38-38 draw in the first half, but UAA shot a blazing 61.8 percent (21-34) in the second half to outscore the Mustangs 54-30. UAA also enjoyed a 49-37 rebounding advantage. The 92 points were a season-high also.
The win was the Seawolves' 10th in the last 13 games after beginning the year 3-11.
