ABILENE, Texas (May 26) - Senior Stacy Edwards and sophomore Jessica Houston had their seasons come to an end with 15th- and 17th-place efforts at the 2005 NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships here today.
The first Seawolf woman to compete at two NCAA meets, Edwards ran to a time of 39:52.78 in the 10,000-meter run. The Eagle River native placed 13th in the same event at NCAAs in 2003.
Harding's Janet Kogo took top honors with a winning time of 34:50.18.
Houston, competing at NCAAs for the first time, placed 17th in the women's discus with a toss of 108-8. The mark was a season low for the Dimond High product, who threw a GNAC record 165-9 earlier this season. Houston is the first UAA field athlete to compete at Nationals.
Cecilia Barnes of Cal State Bakersfield won the discus with a mark of 189-6.
UAA didn't collect any team points from Edwards' or Houston's performances.
The NCAA championships will conclude Saturday at Abilene Christian University's Elmer Gray Stadium.
