BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Heather Lyons had 11 kills and 16 digs Thursday but it wasn't enough for the Seawolves as Western Washington recorded a 30-20, 30-24, 30-20 sweep in Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball action at Carver Gym.
UAA (3-11, 0-6 GNAC) lost its seventh straight outing despite a solid .185 attack percentage and a 57-52 advantage in digs.
WWU (9-5, 5-1) played a near-flawless offensive match, committing just 11 attack errors on the way to a .331 percentage. The Vikings, ranked sixth in the initial NCAA Div. II West Region poll, were led by 13 kills from Angie Alvord and 11 from Emily Castro.
Seawolf setter Tehane Kahalehau had 34 assists and 10 digs, and libero Rachael Knecht came up with 14 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Brenda Cooper, playing in just her third match of the season due to injuries, was effective with eight kills and just two errors (.286).
UAA finishes its four-match road swing Saturday with a 6 p.m. first serve against Seattle University at the Archbishop Connolly Center.
