Women's Volleyball UAA Media Relations

No. 15 Wildcats claw Seawolves

ANCHORAGE -- Stephanie Powell and Kristin Pasley combined for 25 kills Saturday to lead 15th-ranked Central Washington to a 30-23, 30-21, 30-27 victory over the UAA volleyball team at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

The Seawolves (3-7, 0-2 GNAC) were led by seven kills from outside hitter Brenda Cooper and 10 digs from libero Rachael Knecht.

CWU (11-1, 2-0 GNAC) got 46 assists from setter Lindsey Dollente as the Wildcats controlled play from start to finish. The Wildcats outdug UAA 60-39 and outhit their hosts .188 to .072.

UAA, which won the blocking battle 10-3, dropped its third straight overall and second in a row to a ranked opponent. Senior middle blocker Chelsey Jones had five kills on just 11 attacks, plus six total blocks.

The Seawolves are off for six full days before hosting Northwest Nazarene in their next Great Northwest Athletic Conference match, Sat., Sept. 16. First serve is 7 p.m. at the WFSC.
