MONMOUTH, Ore. ? Senior outside hitters Rhea Cardwell and Rachel Kidwell both posted double-doubles, but the Alaska Anchorage volleyball team was unable to capitalize on a fast start as host Western Oregon prevailed 20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 at the New P.E. Building on Saturday night.
Cardwell had a match-high 20 kills and made 12 digs for the Seawolves (11-7, 3-2 GNAC), while Kidwell managed 10 kills and 21 digs.
WOU (12-1, 5-0) continued to hold on to its GNAC co-leadership standing behind 14 kills from Haley Kostrba and 10 kills and seven block assists by Stephanie Beeler.
The match was a defensive-minded affair with WOU out-hitting UAA .122 to .099 and both teams making 90 or more digs in just four sets.
UAA's 90 digs were a team season-high regardless of length of match.
WOU's Danielle English had a match-high 25 digs, while UAA libero Stacie Meisner was one short of her career-high with 24 digs.
The Seawolves complete a four-match road trip with a Monday battle at GNAC foe Montana State Billings (5 p.m. ADT).
