COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ? Mike Testwuide's goal 2:58 into overtime lifted No.3-ranked Colorado College to a 3-2 victory over Alaska Anchorage Saturday night at the World Arena as the Tigers advanced to the WCHA Final Five by sweeping the best-of-three playoff series.
Freshman Kane Lafranchise and sophomore Josh Lunden scored UAA's goals while sophomore goalie Jon Olthuis registered 27 saves in a losing cause.
The Seawolves (7-21-8, 3-19-6 WCHA) skated out to a 1-0 lead at the 6:05 mark of the first frame on an even-strength tally from Lafranchise. UAA would hold its slim one-goal edge until 4:22 into the second when CC's (28-9-1, 21-6-1 WCHA) Bill Sweatt would get the home team on the scoreboard knotting the game at 1-1.
UAA regained the lead at 16:37 on Lunden's team-leading 14th goal of the season, giving the Green & Gold a 2-1 advantage entering the final stanza.
For the second straight period CC would answer the Seawolves' call, however, as Testwuide would notch the first of his two goals at 5:54 of the third evening up the contest at 2-2, before eventually nailing the game winner in overtime.
The Tigers held a 30-20 edge in shots, including a 14-5 advantage in the third.
Both teams were scoreless with the man advantage with UAA going 0-for-2 and CC 0-for-4.
CC goalie Richard Bachman made 18 saves while recording his 25th win of the season.
Lunden netted his sixth multi-point game of the season by adding an assist on Lafranchise's goal. The Coquitlam, B.C., product ended the 2007-08 season as UAA's leading point scorer with 27 points.
Also producing points on assist for the Seawolves were freshman Craig Parkinson and sophomore Paul Crowder.
Testwuide ended the night with a game-high three points for the Tigers.
The loss marks the end of the season for UAA.
