ANCHORAGE - Alaska Anchorage alumni Dave Duncan raced to a second-place finish in the men's skier X final at the Winter X Games on Jan. 31 at Buttermilk Mountain.
Duncan will represent Canada on the 2010 Olympic ski cross team this month in Vancouver. The Seawolf graduate claimed the bronze medal at the final pre-Olympic World Cup race, clinching a spot on the team.
Ski cross, a freestyle discipline in which four or more racers speed down a course while negotiating bumps, berms, jumps and rollers, will make its Olympic debut on Feb. 21.
Duncan competed with the Seawolves from 2003-2006. During his tenure at UAA, Duncan qualified for the NCAA Skiing Championships in 2003 and 2005, while earning National All-Academic Ski Team honors in 2005.
The 2005 team MVP, Duncan graduated from UAA with a degree in aviation.
