Registe 2nd after drug scandal

CARACAS, Venezuela - Former UAA All-American David Registe will be trading in his bronze medal that he received in the 2011 Pan American Games for a silver, according to an announcement made by sports officials Wednesday.

Registe, Palmer (Colony HS), who finished third in the long jump on Oct. 24, will now become the second-place finisher due to the disqualification of original goal medalist Victor Castillo (Venezuelan), who tested positive for methylhexaneamine, a banned supplement that can be found in some dietary supplements.

Chile's Daniel Pineda will be crowned the new gold medlist, while USA's Jeremy Hicks will earn on a spot on the podium in third.
