USTFCCCA PRESEASON RANKING: The UAA women's team furnished its best-ever ranking at No. 6 in Week 1 of the USTFCCCA Div. II poll, up one position from the preseason poll ... the men's squad remained at No. 23 ... the men's team holds UAA's highest-ever ranking at No. 3, received on Week 1 of 2010 ... the UAA women's team has been ranked for 18 consecutive weeks, dating back to the 2011 season, while the men's team has been in the top 25 for 31 straight weeks ... leading the  Div. II field is Saint Augustine's on the men's side and Lincoln (Mo.) on the women's side ... UAA leads the GNAC on both sides.

GNAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: UAA swept the Red Lion Great Northwest Athletic Conference Players of the Week for men's and women's track with junior Susan Bick and sophomore Dylan Anthony being recognized April 1 ... Bick, a local of Anchorage, posted provisional national qualifying times in both the 800 (2:12.47) and 1500 (4:33.78) at the Stanford Invitational and San Francisco State Distance Carnival this past weekend ... Anthony ran the sixth fastest 10,000-meter time in Division II this spring, finishing seventh overall in Friday's Distance Carnival in a time of 29:53.28 ... he is just the fifth athlete in GNAC history to crack the 30-minute barrier and his time ranks fourth overall in GNAC history ... it's Anthony's second honor of the season and  the first for Bick ... they join Franz Burghagen and Ivy O'Guinn as other Seawolf recipients.

NATION'S BEST: To date, the Seawolves have three athletes who are leading the nation in their respective events ... junior Susan Tanui leads Div. II in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a GNAC-record and automatic qualifying time of 10:13.40 ... senior Ruth Keino sits at No. 1 in the 5,000 meters with a UAA-record time of 16:24.67 ... Keino needs to drop just under five seconds from that time for automatic qualification ... UAA newcomer Franz Burghagen tops the javelin chart with a toss of 230-7, while sophomore All-American Cody Parker is No. 3 at 220-10 ... combined, the Seawolves have three automatic NCAA qualifying marks and 13 provisional times (9 women, 4 men).

STANFORD/SFSU RECAP: The Seawolves combined for seven qualifying times/marks at the Stanford Invite and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, March 29-30 ... leading the pack was junior Susan Tanui with a GNAC-record and automatic national qualifying time in the steeplechase at 10:13.40 ... meanwhile, the Seawolves' javelin duo of freshman Franz Burghagen and sophomore All-American Cody Parker went 1-2 in the event, respectively, against Div. I opponents at Stanford with automatic marks ... junior Ivy O'Guinn improved her provisional national qualifying time in the 1500 meters to 4:27.53, while Susan Bick posted PNQ's of 4:33.78 in the 1500 meters and 800 meters (2:12.47) ... sophomore Dylan Anthony improved his PNQ to 29:53.28 in the 10,000 meters.
