SEATTLE, Wash. / NAMPA, Idaho – The Alaska Anchorage Seawolves concluded their first weekend of indoor action with student-athletes competing in Day 2 of the Ed Jacoby Invitational and Multis and at the University of Washington Preview on Saturday.
One day after junior Karolin Anders won the pentathlon in Idaho, senior All-American Cody Thomas finished third in the heptathlon with 4,615 points. A two-day event, Thomas furnished first-place finishes in the long jump and high jump, as Washington State's Dino Dodig won the event with 5,297 points.
Running her first indoor 800 meters, senior Haleigh Lloyd registered an provisional NCAA qualifying time of 2:15.27, good for third place. Lloyd bypasssed the needed time of 2:15.44 for the PNQ and will need to hit 2:09.81 for automatic qualification.
Meanwhile, the Seawolves received a school-record performance from freshman Grant George in the men's shot put, finishing fifth. A graduate of Grace Christian, George posted a toss of 48 feet, 6.75 inches to displace teammate Franz Burghagen's UAA record of 44-3.25.
In addition to the new school record, sophomore Adam Commandeur posted two personal bests (400 meters at 49.32 and in the 200 meters at 22.71), while sophomore Dominik Notz contributed with a career best in the 3,000 meters at 8:33.33.
The Seawolves will be off until Feb. 13-14 with the Husky Classic in Seattle, before competing at the UW Open on Feb. 15.
