ANCHORAGE – Backed by 36 saves from goaltender Olivier Mantha, the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a 1-1 tie against the visiting Penn State Nittany Lions Saturday at the Sullivan Arena.

The Seawolves, who are now 6-4-2 overall, held onto a one-goal lead for just over 44 minutes, before the Nittany Lions (7-2-3) found the equalizer on the power play in the third period. UAA placed four shots on goal in extra minutes, but was unable to come away with the win and series split.

Putting the Seawolves in position for a win was Mantha, a local of La Tuque, Quebec. Mantha made turned aside 18 shots in the third period and an additional three in overtime. UAA's MVP from last season, Mantha is 5-4-2 on the season with a .913 save percentage and a 2.49 goals-against average.

UAA gained the one-goal lead at 2:23 of the first when senior defenseman Austin Sevalrud collected the puck off the faceoff and found linemate Blake Leask. Leask came up the right board and passed ahead to freshman forward Mason Mitchell. Mitchell collected his third goal on the season, firing from inside the circle, blocker side.

The Seawolves held on tight to their lead until sophomore Austin Azurdia was tagged for a five-minute for interference, leading to the Nittany Lions power-play strike at 6:31. Luke Juha captured his second on the year with assists going to David Goodwin and David Glen.

UAA received their own power-play chance late in the third, but Matthew Skoff blocked all three shots. Head bench boss Matt Thomas called timeout with 55 seconds left in overtime, but Skoff once again kept UAA from scoring, stopping two shots in the remaining seconds.

PSU went 1-for-3 on the power play, while UAA was kept scoreless on four attempts. UAA placed 21 shots on target to PSU's 37.

UAA wraps up non-conference play with a 3-2-1 record.

The Seawolves return to conference play when they hit the road for a four-game road swing at Minnesota State, Nov. 27-28, and Michigan Tech, Dec. 4-5.
