#1 Seawolves to host NCAA West Regional tourney

ANCHORAGE – The nationally top-ranked Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team has been selected as the No. 1 seed and host for the NCAA Division II West Region Championships tournament, which will be held March 13-16 at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Seawolves (29-1) – who earned the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's automatic NCAA Tournament bid – will play their opening-round game on Friday, Mar. 13 at 7:30 p.m. ADT against No. 8-seeded Point Loma (19-11). UAA is making its 14th all-time and second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, and is playing host to the regional tournament for the first time.

In addition to the UAA-Point Loma game, Friday's other first-round matchups will be No. 3 seed Humboldt State (23-5) vs. No. 6 seed Seattle Pacific (21-6) at noon, No. 2 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills (26-6) vs. No. 7 seed Cal Poly Pomona (19-8) at 2:30 p.m., and No. 4 seed Hawaii Pacific (25-4) vs. No. 5 seed Cal Baptist (24-6) at 5 p.m.

Saturday's semifinal contests will be held at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Monday's title game will be at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to the NCAA Div. II Elite Eight in Sioux Falls, S.D., Mar. 24-27.
