UAA sets more season bests, ready for GNACs

GRESHAM, Ore. – The Alaska Anchorage ranked men's and women's outdoor track & fields teams wrapped up the regular season with more season bests at the Mt. Hood Track & Field Festival on Saturday.

The Seawolves, who are ranked No. 13 on the men's side and No. 24 on the women's side, furnished a combined eight season bests as they prepare for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships, May 8-9 in Monmouth, Ore.

Seven different Seawolves and one relay team improved upon their season bests. For the women; Mary-Kathleen Cross in the 200 meters (25.66), Hayley Bezanson in the 400 meters (59.22) Alexandra Scott in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.49) and Alexia Blalock in the triple jump (37-8.75. For the men; Adam Commandeur in the 400 meters (48.90), Tevin Gladden in the high jump (6-6) and Timothy Dommek in the shot put (48-2.5) set season bests, while the men's 4x100-meter relay team went 42.22.

Additionally, Cross', Blalock's, Gladden's and Dommek's marks were career bests.

UAA will be idle until the league championships next weekend as the women's team looks to capture their third straight conference crown.
