ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Jake Jackson and Alec Broetzman each tallied two points to lead Michigan Tech to a 3-0 win over Alaska Anchorage Friday.
Brian Halonen caught a puck out of the air in front of the net, dropped it to his stick and scored on the back hand at 1:28 of the first period.
Jake Jackson put the Huskies up 2-0 when he sent a centering pass that deflected off a player for a power-play goal with 22 seconds remaining in the second.
Brian Halonen scored on a breakaway at 16:22 of the third period.
Alaska Anchorage finished 0-6 on the man-advantage, including a five-minute major penalty midway through the second period.
“We left a lot out there on the man advantage which was ultimately our undoing,” said head coach Matt Curley. “5-on-5 I thought we played a real nice game and expect the same effort tomorrow, hopefully with a better result.”
Tech led 22-18 in shots and finished 1-for-5 on the powerplay.
Kris Carlson made 19 saves for UAA.
The two teams will close out the weekend series Saturday at Sullivan Arena.
