ANCHORAGE –
Niko Bevens scored 26 of his 27 points in the first half and fellow senior forward
Tyler Brimhall added 18 points Friday to help the Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team cruise to a 105-56 exhibition victory over Portland Bible at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Seawolves also got 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from sophomore guard
Tobin Karlberg as they shot 56 percent from the field and outrebounded the visitors 44-26.
The Wildcats were led by 18 points and 10 rebounds from starting forward Moses McEwan.
An Great Northwest Athletic Conference preseason all-conference pick, Bevens nailed his first five three-pointers and finished 8 of 10 from long range in the first half. Had the game not been an exhibition, Bevens' eight treys would have broken his own UAA single-half record of seven, set in last November's victory at Hawaii Pacific.
Brimhall, a returning First Team All-GNAC and preseason all-league selection, shot 7 of 12 from the field, while low-post newcomers
Oggie Pantovic (12 points, 5-8 FG, 9 rebounds) and
David Riley (11 points, 5-7 FG) gave the Seawolves five double-figure scorers.
Nine of the 10 active Seawolves scored at least four points, and six players dished at least four assists, including five apiece for backcourt newcomers
Tyrus Hosley and
DeAndre Osuigwe.
The Seawolves and Wildcats meet for a rematch at 7 p.m. Saturday the Alaska Airlines Center in a game that will count for UAA and be an exhibition for Portland Bible.
