ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Rylee St. Onge, Alex Frye and Tanner Schachle each scored for Alaska Anchorage in a 3-3 tie with Omaha Friday.
"After a slow start to the game, I felt we responded exceptionally well capitalizing on two of our four power-play opportunities and coming back on three separate occasions, including in the third period," said head coach Matt Curley. "Tonight was a hard fought draw with a strong UNO team and will serve us well heading into next weekend's contest at UAH."
The Mavericks wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with a goal by Zach Jordan in the first minute.
Rylee St. Onge tied the game with his blast on the powerplay at 14:56 of the first with assists from Tomi Hiekkavirta and Nick Wicks.
Tyler Weiss scored a power-play goal for UNO at 7:08 of the second period, but Alex Frye answered with a short-handed break-away goal at the 9:00 mark. Tomi Hiekkavirta and Nick Wicks each assisted on the goal.
Tyler Weiss scored his second goal of the period at 12:52 to give UNO a 3-2 lead heading into the third.
Tanner Schachle tied the game at 12:59 of the third period with a power-play goal. Nick Wicks recorded his third assist of the game, and Taylor Lantz tallied his first.
UAA led 34-27 in shots. Anchorage finished 2-for-4 on the powerplay and held Omaha 1-for-4.
Kris Carlson made 24 saves for UAA.
Alaska Anchorage will play a WCHA series at Alabama-Huntsville Nov. 8-9.
