Seawolves and Chargers skate to 4-4 tie

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – Alaska Anchorage and Alabama Huntsville skated to a 4-4 tie but Brayden Camrud scored in the second round of the shootout to give the Seawolves the extra point Friday night.

"It's always a positive to earn points on the road," said head coach Matt Curley. "With that being said, I feel that we left a little on the table tonight, especially having a two goal lead heading into the third period. But tomorrow we have a chance to take five out of six points on the weekend and that will be our focus moving forward."

The Chargers took an early lead when Josh Latta scored 34 seconds into the game.

Drake Glover evened the score at 1-1 with his first goal of the season at 10:15 of the first. Drayson Pears and Zac Masson each assisted on the play.

The second period featured three goals by the Seawolves.

Rylee St. Onge set-up Tanner Schachle for his third goal of the season at 2:34, but Christian Rajic countered with a goal for UAH at 8:46.

Drake Glover recorded his second point of the game with an assist on a goal by Jared Nash at 13:02. Eric Sinclair also assisted on the goal.

Taylor Lantz scored the third UAA goal of the period at 16:55 thanks to an assist from Brayden Camrud.

The Chargers scored twice in the third period. Jack Jeffers scored at 1:32, and then Jeffers assisted on Dayne Finnson's power-play goal at 11:48.

After a scoreless overtime and a 3-on-3 overtime, the teams headed to a shootout.

Neither team scored in the first round, but a goal by Brayden Camrud and a save by Kristian Stead gave the Seawolves the second point. Kristian Stead finished with 33 saves for the Green and Gold.

Huntsville led 37-32 in shots and finished 1-for-5 on the powerplay. Anchorage was 0-for-2 on the man-advantage.

The two teams will close out the weekend series Saturday.
