HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – Trey DeGraaf scored twice and Kristian Stead made 25 saves for Alaska Anchorage in a 3-1 win at Alabama Huntsville Saturday.
The Seawolves moved into fifth place in the WCHA with eight points after the win.
"Anytime you can go on the road and earn five out of six points it's a success," said head coach Matt Curley. "We were able to do it in different ways this weekend with contributions from different players. There is still a lot of work to do for sure but will enjoy what we've earned this weekend and use it as preparation for our next series against Bowling Green."
After a scoreless first period, Brandon Salerno scored a power-play goal for the Chargers at 13:48 of the second period.
Trey DeGraaf answered less than 90 seconds later with his first goal of the night at 15:14. Jared Nash sent a pass from behind the goal to DeGraaf who scored five hole. Drayson Pears also assisted on the goal.
Carmine Buono fired a long shot on goal that was deflected in by DeGraaf for the game-winner at 16:55 of the third period. Eric Sinclair added an assist on the play.
Jared Nash recorded his second point of the evening when he assisted on an empty-net goal by Alex Frye with eight seconds remaining.
Kristian Stead, who made several key saves in the first period, finished with 25 saves.
UAA finished with a 28-26 lead in shots.
Alaska Anchorage will host Bowling Green Nov. 15-16.
