Box Score ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Jeremiah Luedtke scored his seventh goal of the season and Kris Carlson made 39 saves in a 3-1 loss at Michigan Tech Saturday.
“It was a hard fought weekend but at end of the day it wasn't enough,” said head coach Matt Curley. “Michigan Tech is the defending league champions, and they showed why over the course of the weekend. We have one more weekend left and it will be the most important two games of the year. From here forward that will be our focus, and we will build from this series this week in practice.”
Brian Halonen beat Carlson with a wrist shot high glove side to give Tech a 1-0 lead at 12:58 of the first period.
The Huskies scored their lone power-play goal of the night when Alec Broetzman scored with a slap shot at 8:49 of the second period.
Tech's third goal of the game came at 2:10 of the third period when Justin Broetzman tapped in a loose puck.
Nicolas Erb-Ekholm found Jeremiah Luedtke on the back post for the power-play goal at 15:54 of the third period. Tomi Hiekkavirta earned his seventh assist of the season on the goal.
UAA (1-for-3) and MTU (1-for-5) each scored on the powerplay and the Huskies led 42-22 in shots.
Alaska Anchorage will close out the regular season when it hosts Alaska Fairbanks in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup March 1-2.
