WOODLAND, Calif. – Alaska Anchorage's Ali Marvel has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's gymnastics Freshman of the Week after an impressive performance at the Michigan State quad meet on Sunday.

The Wasilla native scored a career-high 9.8 on balance beam in East Lansing as the Seawolves produced the seventh-best beam total in program history at 48.625. Marvel added a team-high 9.65 on vault in the final rotation as well to help UAA finish with 192.250 points.

Marvel's honor marks just the second MPSF Freshman of the Week for a Seawolf since the award began in 2015.

The Seawolves conclude the team portion of their season when they aim for the conference title at the MPSF Championships in Seattle, Saturday at 5 p.m. ADT. Check the gymnastics schedule page GoSeawolves.com for live video and live scoring links.
