Johnson leaps into the record books

SALEM, ORE. – Chrisalyn Johnson bounded her way into the records books setting a new school record to lead the Alaska Anchorage track and field team at the Willamette Invite Saturday.

Johnson's leap of 39-11.5 bettered Kim Brady's record of 39-3.75 set in 2008. Johnson's mark provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championships. She also won the long jump with a leap of 18-2.25.

Elena Cano won the 110 hurdles in a time of 15.04 and was second in the long jump with a mark of 17-0.

Danielle McCormick won the 1,500 in a provisional qualifying time of 4:32.17, and teammate Ruth Cvancara was fourth in 4:35.33.

Vanessa Aniteye won the 400 (56.17) and was third in the 200 (25.61).

Yvonne Jeschke tied for second in the high jump (5-2.25) and was third in the 400 hurdles (1:05.95).

Enrique Campbell was second in the 200 (22.20) and third in the 100 (11.12).

Chris Brake finished third in the high jump (6-4), and David Sramek was fourth in the long jump (21-7.5).

Felix Kemboi was third in the 1,500 (3:53.37), and Drew Johnson was fifth (3:54.39).

The women's 4x100 relay was fourth (49.38).

UAA will participate in the Stanford Invite and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic March 29-30.
