NEW ORLEANS – Alaska Anchorage had nine student-athletes earn 14 All-West Region honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Tuesday.

Caroline Kurgat earned four all-region honors. The Eldoret, Kenya, native has the fastest time in the region in the 1,500 (4:19.48), 5,000 (15:40.45) and 10,000 (32:08.09) and earned all-region honors in the 800 (2:09.90).

Chrisalyn Johnson earned all-region honors in the long (19-5.25) and triple jumps (41-3.25) with the longest marks in each event in the region.

Danielle McCormick ran the fastest time in the region in the 800 (2:05.00), and Wesley Kirui posted the top mark in the region in the steeplechase (8:52.35).

Edwin Kangogo earned all-region honors in the steeplechase (8:56.08), and Drew Johnson earned the honor in the 1,500 (3:49.73).

Vanessa Aniteye earned all-region honors in the 400 (54.19).

The women's 4x400 relay of Vanessa Aniteye, Tylantiss Atlas, Danielle McCormick and Marie Ries earned all-region honors with a time of 3:44.20.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.

Alaska Anchorage will compete at the NCAA Div. II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Kingsville, Texas May 23-25.
