#3 MSU and UAA skate to 2-2 tie

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Rylee St. Onge and Luc Brown each scored for Alaska Anchorage in a 2-2 tie with #3 Minnesota State Saturday. The Mavericks earned the second point on the evening with a goal in the 3-on-3 overtime.

Rylee St. Onge gave the Seawolves an early 1-0 lead with his seventh goal of the season thanks to an assist from Zach Court at 3:53 of the first period.

Tanner Schachle collected an errant pass by Minnesota State and connected with Luc Brown who fired a wrist shot into the upper corner for his fifth goal of the season at 7:12 of the first period.

After nearly two more periods of scoreless hockey, the Mavericks pulled their goalie with three minutes remaining for the extra attacker.

Parker Toumie cut the UAA to one goal with his 11th goal of the season with 56 seconds left, and Ian Scheid scored his first goal of the season for Minnesota State with one second remaining to send it to overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime, Scheid would score with 30 seconds remaining in the 3-on-3 overtime to give the Mavericks the second point.

Both MSU (0-5) and UAA (0-2) finished scoreless on the powerplay in a game that tallied a combined 55 penalty minutes.

Minnesota State led 37-20 in shots.

Kris Carlson finished with 35 saves for UAA.

Alaska Anchorage will play at Bowling Green Feb. 7-8.
