FAIRBANKS, ALASKA – Luc Brown scored one goal and one assist for Alaska Anchorage in a 5-2 loss at Alaska Fairbanks in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Friday.
With a loss by Ferris State tonight, Alaska Anchorage secured the eighth spot in the WCHA Playoffs.
Tomi Hiekkavirta opened the scoring with his second goal of the season at 12:06 of the first period. Luc Brown and Rylee St. Onge each assisted on the power-play goal.
Luc Brown recorded his seventh goal of the season with a great individual effort at 11:52 of the second period.
Colton Leiter scored the first of five unanswered goals by UAF at 14:17 of the second period.
Tyler Cline tied the game at 2-2 with his third goal of the season at 4:05 of the third period.
Steven Jandric recorded a hat trick with goals at 7:37, 10:49 and 12:02 to complete the scoring.
Brandon Perrone finished 22 saves and allowed all five goals. Kris Carlson made one save in less than five minutes of work.
UAA finished with 31-28 lead in shots and both teams finished 1-for-3 on the powerplay.
With tonight's win, UAF takes a 2-1 lead in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup.
UAA can win the cup with a win in Saturday's season finale and by winning the shootout to decide the winner.
