FAIRBANKS, ALASKA – Alaska Fairbanks won the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup with a 6-1 win over Alaska Anchorage Saturday.
After a scoreless first period, Jared Nash put the Seawolves on the scoreboard with his second goal of the season at 1:19 of the second period.
The Nanooks tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal at 3:41.
UAF took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission with goals at 10:15 and 14:42.
Fairbanks added three more goals in the third period.
UAF out-shot UAA 34-21. The Nanooks finished 2-for-5 on the powerplay, and the Seawolves were scoreless on their three chances.
Brandon Perrone made 28 saves and allowed all six goals.
Alaska Anchorage will play at Minnesota State in the first round of the WCHA Playoffs March 6-8.
