MANKATO, MINN. – Luc Brown scored his eighth goal of the season for Alaska Anchorage in an 8-1 loss at No. 3 Minnesota State in the first round of the WCHA Playoffs Friday.
Reggie Lutz gave the Mavericks a 1-0 lead with a goal at 4:41 of the first period.
Luc Brown tied the game at 1-1 just over two minutes later thanks to assists by Nolan Nicholas and Alex Frye.
Minnesota State responded with seven straight goals, including two on the powerplay.
MSU out-shot UAA 50-17 and held the Seawolves scoreless on both power play opportunities.
Kris Carlson made 11 saves and allowed three goals, before being replaced by Brandon Perrone who made 31 saves and allowed five goals over the final 40 minutes.
UAA and MSU will battle in game two of the best-of-three series Saturday at 3:07 pm.
