ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – The University of Alaska Anchorage hockey team had 13 different players record at least one point in an 8-0 exhibition win over UNLV Friday.
Connor Marritt and Matt Allen each finished with one goal and two assists, while William Gilson (two goals), Ben Almquist (one goal, one assist) and Maximillion Helgeson (one goal, one assist) each finished with two points.
Matt Allen opened the scoring with a goal at the 7:39 mark of the first period. The Seawolves would score a total of four goals in the opening period, including a short-handed goal by William Gilson.
The Seawolves scored three goals in the second period, including a power-play goal by William Gilson.
Caleb Hite scored the lone Seawolf goal in the third period.
Jared Whale saw his first action in goal this season for UAA making 18 saves in the shutout win.
UAA finished with a lopsided edge in shots, 41-18.
Alaska Anchorage finished 1-for-3 on the man-advantage and scored a short-handed goal.
UNLV finished 0-for-5 on the powerplay.
The two teams will face-off again Saturday at 6 pm.
