Seawolves complete weekend sweep

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Matt Allen and William Gilson each scored on the powerplay to lead Alaska Anchorage to a 2-1 exhibition win over UNLV Saturday.

"I was very impressed with the effort by UNLV tonight," said head coach Matt Shasby. "They showed up and played a hell of a game, but we found a way to win. Tonight was a great lesson for our team about being prepared. I was very impressed with the play of UNLV."

Jayson Dimizio scored on the rebound at 17:28 of the first period to give the Rebels the 1-0 lead.

Matt Allen scored with a quick wrist shot at 18:21 of the second period to tie the game. Maximilion Helgeson and William Gilson each assisted on the power-play goal.

William Gilson collected his second point of the game when he buried a loose puck top shelf. Dylan Finlay recorded the only assist on the power-play goal at 5:26 of the third period.

The Seawolves out-shot the Rebels 33-20.

UAA finished 2-for-5 on the powerplay, and held UNLV scoreless on their three chances.

Joey Lamoreaux started in net and finished with 12 saves on 13 shots. Nolan Kent made seven saves over the final 27:22.

Alaska Anchorage will play at Northern Michigan Oct. 21-22.
