MARQUETTE, MICH. – Connor Marritt scored his team-leading third goal of the season for Alaska Anchorage in a 9-1 loss at Northern Michigan.
The Wildcats enjoyed a 1-0 lead after the first period before capitalizing on a five-minute major penalty on UAA by scoring three power-play goals.
Northern Michigan scored a fourth goal in the second period to lead 5-0 after 40 minutes.
The third period featured a pair of goals by players against their former teams. Former Seawolf Alex Frye scored for the Wildcats at 3:47, and former Wildcat Connor Marritt scored at 6:23. Derek Hamelin and Maximilion Helgeson assisted on the goal. Hamelin and Helgeson are tied for the team lead this season with five points.
Northern Michigan scored three more goals in the contest.
NMU out-shot UAA 33-18.
Joey Lamoreaux made 24 saves for UAA.
The two teams will faceoff again Saturday at 2:07 pm.
