Kent leads Seawolves to win

MARQUETTE, MICH. – Connor Marritt and Jamie Collins each scored and Nolan Kent made 31 saves to lead Alaska Anchorage to a 2-1 win at Northern Michigan Saturday.

"I was proud of the character our team showed tonight," said head coach Matt Shasby. "Nolan played an excellent game against his old squad. This is a great win against a very good opponent. The win will give us some momentum going into the bye week, and as we start to prepare for Air Force."

The Wildcats opened the scoring at 7:23 of the first period when Artem Shlaine scored with just two seconds remaining in the powerplay.

Connor Marritt tied the game at 1-1 with his team-leading fourth goal of the season. The goal was the second of the weekend for Marritt against his old team.

After a scoreless second period, Caleb Hite and Derek Hamelin connected with Jamie Collins who scored his first goal of the season on an odd-man rush at 15:56 of the third period.

Hite and Collins collected their second points of the night when Hite scored an empty-net goal with 46 seconds remaining.

Nolan Kent finished with 31 saves on 42 shots against his former team.

NMU finished with a 32-19 edge in shots. UAA finished 0-for-5 on the powerplay and held NMU 1-for-6.

UAA will be off next weekend before facing Air Force Nov. 4-5.
