Isabel Evans made a career-high seven blocks to lead 9th-ranked Alaska Anchorage to a 25-20, 25-20, 25-16 volleyball sweep of Central Washington on Thursday at the Student Union Recreation Center.
The Seawolves (18-1, 8-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) got 11 kills, 10 digs, six blocks and two aces from Stephens as they won their 10th straight match. Senior outside hitter
Lisa Jaunet had nine kills, and senior setter
Ellen Floyd finished with 25 assists, five kills on .400 hitting and eight digs on a night when she moved into second place on the GNAC's all-time assists list.
Picked one spot ahead of UAA for second in the GNAC preseason poll, the Wildcats (9-7, 4-4) were led by eight kills on .400 hitting from Emma Daoud-Herbert, but the rest of her teammates combined to hit .000, thanks in large part to 11 Seawolf blocks.
"Our block really came alive tonight, especially in the third set when we were able to grab another early lead and not give them any life," said UAA head coach
Chris Green, whose team outhit the hosts .220 to .056 overall.
UAA never trailed past the fourth point of any set, stretching its lead steadily throughout each frame and holding Central Washington under .100 hitting each time.

Leilani Elder had four kills on .444 hitting and three total blocks, Evans added four kills, and sophomore
Nicole Blue had three kills and three blocks assists.
UAA got a huge lift defensively from freshman
Madison Galloway, who tallied five digs and was 11-of-11 on serve receptions.
With her second assist of the night Floyd passed Western Washington's Brette Boesel (4,371 assists, 2015-18) for second place on the GNAC's career list, finishing the night with 4,395.
