Hockey falls at Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Connor Marritt and Brett Bamber each scored for Alaska Anchorage in a 6-2 loss at Colorado College Friday.

After a scoreless first period, Marritt put the Seawolves on the scoreboard just 12 seconds in the second period. Brett Bamber dumped the puck into the corner where it took a Seawolf bounce off the boards and right to Marritt's stick. Derek Hamelin also assisted on Marritt's second goal of the season.

The Tigers responded with four goals in the second period, two on the powerplay, one short-handed and one even-strength.

Colorado College scored its third power-play goal of the game less than a minute into the period to grow its lead to 5-1.

Brett Bamber scored his first career goal, and his second point of the night, with a wrister from just inside the blueline at 3:30 of the third. Derek Hamelin tallied his second assist of the night, and Maximilion Helgeson recorded his first on the goal.

Nicklas Andrews concluded the scoring with a CC goal at 9:39 of the third period.

Joey Lamoreaux finished with 30 saves for UAA.

The Seawolves out-shot the Tigers 38-36.

Colorado College finished 3-for-4 on the powerplay while Alaska Anchorage was 1-for-7.

The Tigers (1-0-0) and Seawolves (1-2-0) will faceoff again Saturday.
