FAIRBANKS, ALASKA – Max Helgeson and William Gilson each scored for Alaska Anchorage in a 7-2 loss at Alaska Fairbanks in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Saturday.
The Nanooks scored three goals in the first period and the first goal of the second period before Max Helgeson scored at 9:58 of the second period.
Brady Risk scored with 24 seconds remaining in the second period to extend the Fairbanks lead to 5-1.
The third period opened with a pair of goals for Fairbanks before William Gilson scored on the power play at 12:16 for the Seawolves.
UAA finished 1-for-4 on the powerplay and held UAF scoreless on their three power play opportunities.
The Nanooks out-shot the Seawolves 41-25.
Jared Whale started in net for UAA making 25 saves and allowing seven goals.
Joey Lamoreaux made nine saves after taking over in the third period.
UAA will host UAF Dec. 16-17 in games three and four of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup. The Nanooks lead the season series 2-0.
