Seawolves skate to 3-1 win

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Alaska Anchorage had nine different players record a point in Friday's 3-1 win over Air Force at the Avis Alaska Sports Complex.

Aiden Westin scored his first career goal with a high wrist shot at 6:37 of the first period. Carson Kosobud and Davis Goukler assisted on the goal.

Air Force tied the game with a power-play goal by Mitchell Digby at 9:13 of the second period.

Riley Thompson fired a shot on net that was stopped by Guy Blessing, but the rebound fell to Matt Allen who scored on the rebound at 13:16 of the second. Riley Thompson and Connor Marritt each collected assists.

Max Helgeson scored the game-winner at 13:02 of the third period thanks to assists from Brett Bamber and Rowan Miller.

"I thought we had a good start," said head coach Matt Shasby. "It was great to see Westin get on the board. Air Force made a good push in the second, but we found a way to have the lead going into the third. We did a good job closing it out. Jared Whale gave us a chance in the end. We will have our work cut out for us tomorrow."

Whale finished with 32 saves on 33 shots for the Seawolves.

UAA out-shot AFA 33-24, and each team finished 1-for-4 on the powerplay.

Alaska Anchorage will try for the weekend sweep Saturday at 5 pm.
