"I thought we had a good start," said head coach Matt Shasby. "It was great to see Westin get on the board. Air Force made a good push in the second, but we found a way to have the lead going into the third. We did a good job closing it out. Jared Whale gave us a chance in the end. We will have our work cut out for us tomorrow."
Whale finished with 32 saves on 33 shots for the Seawolves.
UAA out-shot AFA 33-24, and each team finished 1-for-4 on the powerplay.
Alaska Anchorage will try for the weekend sweep Saturday at 5 pm.
