ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Nov. 11) – Alaska Anchorage senior
Nicole Blue registered a match-high 13 kills, but it was not enough to overcome a hot-hitting effort from No. 19 Central Washington as the Wildcats earned a 25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 25-12 volleyball victory Saturday at Nicholson Pavilion.
The Seawolves (15-17, 7-10 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) also got 11 digs from Blue as the outside hitter registered her 11th double-double of the season, while
Madison Galloway picked up 12 digs.
The Wildcats (18-6, 12-4) were led by 12 kills and 12 total blocks – including four solos – from Emma Daoud-Hebert and 38 assists from Tia Andaya as they improved their NCAA playoff chances and stayed alive in the race for the GNAC regular-season title.
UAA was at its best offensively in the second set, leading most of the way behind six kills apiece from Blue and fellow outside hitter
Bethany Tuchardt. Blue was blocked to bring the hosts within 23-22, but Seawolf middle blocker
Isabel Evans had two kills in the next three rallies to tie the match.
The Seawolves were not able to maintain their momentum, getting outhit .227 to -.036 in the third and .306 to -.025 in the fourth.
Tuchardt finished with eight kills, freshmen
Trinity Tatupu and
Bella Burney had seven apiece, and Evans collected six.
Junior setter
Kadyn Osborne picked up a team-high 21 assists.
