Seawolf women fall at Central Washington

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Sophomore guard Jazzpher Evans scored a team-high 16 points, but the Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team could not slow Central Washington and All-America center Samantha Bowman in an 87-56 loss Saturday at Nicholson Pavilion.

The Seawolves (14-9, 6-8 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) also got 10 points and seven rebounds from sophomore center Kate Robertson as they were swept in the season series by the regionally 8th-ranked Wildcats (18-6, 10-5).

After posting a triple-double last month against UAA in Anchorage, Bowman delivered 33 points on 12-of-21 shooting, 18 rebounds and five assists in the rematch. Central Washington also got 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from guard Sunshine Huerta as it outshot the visitors 50 percent to 32 percent and won the rebounding battle 48-28.

Evans and Robertson each shot 5 of 9 from the floor, while Evans was 6 of 6 at the foul stripe. Senior forward Vishe' Rabb had 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting, and senior guard Jahnna Hajdukovich tallied 10 points and five rebounds.

The Seawolves return to Alaska Airlines Center for their home finales next week, starting with Thursday's 7:30 p.m. tip against Saint Martin's. Surf to GoSeawolves.com for tickets and live links.
