SAN FRANCISCO – Alaska Anchorage junior
Vishe' Rabb was recognized among the top 10 women's basketball players in the NCAA Div. II West Region when she was named last week as a D2CCA Second Team All-Region selection.
A 5-9 forward from Springfield, Minn., Rabb paced the Seawolves (18-10) with 16.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, while her .879 free-throw percentage led the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and was second-best in program history. The GNAC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-GNAC performer also ranked fifth in the league in scoring, fourth in steals and eighth in rebounding in her first season after transferring from fellow D-II program Augustana (S.D.).
A two-time GNAC Player of the Week and the ASRC/Great Alaska Shootout Most Outstanding Player, Rabb scored double figures all but four times and grabbed at least five rebounds in 23 of 27 contests. She finished the season with four 25-plus scoring efforts in the last seven games (22.7 ppg, 49-51 FT), including her third double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds in the win against Saint Martin's.
The D2CCA Player of the Year award and all-region teams are nominated and selected by members of the region's athletics communications staffs. The NCAA Div. II West Region comprises 33 member institutions belonging to three conferences – the GNAC, Pacific West Conference and California Collegiate Athletic Association.
